Towson, MD. -- The UMBC Swimming & Diving team saw many notable performances in its dual meet finale at Towson on Saturday.
Alice Marini won the 200 back and 400 IM, resetting her America East season top mark in the former with a time of 1:59.88.
Ashley Gutshall won both the 50 (23.21) and 100 free (50.81), while
Ula Parrill took second in the 200 breaststroke with a time of 2:21.70.
Kolby Reese took silver in the 1000 in a time of 10:31.66.
Marini and Gutshall were the lead and anchor, respectively in the 200 medley relay and teamed with
Breanna Smith and
Nicol Davanzo for second. Smith, Parrill,
Shannyn Lambert and
Daphné Melis went 2-3-4-5 in the 100 breaststroke.
On the Men's side,
Matthew So and
Andrew McEachern went 1-2 in the 200 free, while
Sean Neils won the 100 free in 45.25.
Quinn Marchionini (100 back, 49.42) and
Stefano Perez (100 fly, 48.84) had second place finishes as well, with So taking third in the 100 fly.
The 400 free relay team of So, Neils,
Braden Weise and Perez won gold in 3:00.41, while the 200 Medley relay team of Marchionini, Neils, Perez and
Axel Mori took the silver in 1:28.84.
In diving,
Kaleb Cave finished second in both the Men's 1 meter dive (297.83) and the 3 meter (287.63),
Ember Stennett took a silver (Women's 1 meter, 247.05) and bronze (3 meter, 242.93), while
Alicia Buteau got third in the 1 meter (242.25).
The Retrievers will head to VMI for the America East Championships February 18-21.
