Strong Showings Highlight Day 1 of Dr. Sander Scorcher for Women's Track & Field

New York, NY – The UMBC Women's Track & Field program opened the Dr. Sander Scorcher in New York City with some PR's on Friday afternoon.

Katie Schwaner set a massive personal record of 2:10.66 in the 800m for number two in school history and the fastest time in the America East conference by four seconds.

Enazajah Young took fourth in the 60m in a time of 7.60, while Winter Evans finished fifth in the 60m hurdles in 8.69.

Anna Creel crossed the finish line in 57.09 for a sixth place finish in the 400m (seeded), and Katelyn Deal was UMBC's top finisher in the 800m (open) as she took seventh in 2:18.09.

Janine Amefia took eighth in the triple jump (11.80m), Marie Abongwa was seventh in the weight throw (16.16m), and the distance medley relay team of Lily Strelecki, Ruth Ayuk-Takor, Emily Mitroka and Lydia Nelson finished second in a time of 12:03.58
