Roberts and Young Pace Retrievers on Day One of Penn State National Open

University Park, PA – The UMBC Women's Track & Field team opened competition at the Penn State National Open on Friday.

Freshman Enazajah Young won the 60 meter hurdles with a 8.35 time, tying her own school record.

Ava Roberts set a career high in the weight throw with a throw of 17.59, good enough for a seventh place finish.

Charliana Dacosta ran a 7.48 in the 60 meter dash semi-finals to qualify for the finals where she finished sixth. Lyna Beraich ran a 4:53.80 in the mile to place 18th out of 51 runners.

The Retrievers conclude the Penn State National Open tomorrow.
