Women's Cross Country Finishes Second at Cantello Invitational on Saturday at Navy

Tepper Places Second Overall

Annapolis, Md. – The UMBC women's cross country team finished in second place at the 2025 Cantello Invitational, which was hosted by the Naval Academy on Saturday morning.

The Retrievers had four runners finish in the top fourteen, accumulating a total of 55 points with an average time of 23:30.7 on the USNA Cross Country Course.

UMBC finished just behind Navy, which scored 199 points, and outpaced Mount St. Mary's (101 points), Loyola (Md.) (122 points), Catholic (122 points), and Southern Virginia (129 points).

Junior Lexi Tepper came close to winning her second consecutive individual title, completing the 6k course in 22:47.6 for a second-place overall finish.

Three freshmen were also impressive in the race: Micah Haskins finished 10th with a time of 23:37.1, Erin Grime took 12th at 23:41.4, and Lilly Norcross was 14th with a time of 23:41.8.

Additionally, senior Lily Strelecki finished 16th with a time of 23:45.5, freshman Maddie Wassin was 17th at 23:45.6, and junior Katelyn Deal finished 18th with a time of 23:46.8, all placing within the top 20.
