Baseball Set to Host Lehigh this Weekend

The UMBC Baseball team continues non-conference play by hosting Lehigh for a three-game series at Alumni Field beginning on Friday at 3 p.m. Saturday's game will be at 2 p.m. and the Sunday finale will be at 2:30 p.m.

Weekend Rotation:

Friday:  RHP Zach Robinson (0-1, 11.57 ERA) vs RHP Marcus Danchision (1-1, 4.32 ERA)

Saturday: LHP Brady Fox (0-0, 1.80 ERA) vs RHP Cole Leaman (0-0, 0.00 ERA)

Sunday: RHP Sergio Droz (0-1, 7.50 ERA) vs RHP David Andolina (0-2, 15.43 ERA)

Last time out, UMBC rallied from an early 3-0 deficit to take a late lead, but host George Washington plated four runs in the bottom of the seventh to knock-off the Dawgs, 7-4, on Tuesday afternoon.

Logan Wiley pitched four stellar innings of scoreless relief, while Nico Ong, Derek Paris and Anthony Mascuilli all had RBI for UMBC.

The Retrievers found themselves down 3-0 after two, but an Ong RBI single in the fifth closed the gap to 3-1. Paris then had a two-run double in the sixth to knot the score at six before Mascuilli drove home Paris with an RBI single for his first career hit and RBI.

The Revolutionaries would score four in the bottom of the seventh to re-take the lead for good.

Ehi Okojie also had his first career hit, while Matthew Best, Jesiah Carpenter, Kyle Eddington and Leewood Molessa also had hits. UMBC stole seven bases in the contest, led by Ong's two.

Lehigh baseball played its first midweek game of the season on Tuesday afternoon, welcoming the Albright College Lions to J. David Walker Field. The Mountain Hawks recorded 14 hits in a dominant 20-5 victory.

Sophomore Grady Golier earned the win for Lehigh (3-4), striking out two in 1.2 innings of relief in a game where six pitchers took the mound for the Mountain Hawks.

Tuesday's win marks the first time the Mountain Hawks have scored 20 or more runs in a game since a 20-15 victory over Saint Joseph's in 2019. Ten Lehigh players registered hits, including multi-hit days from Jake Whitlinger , Dom Patrizi, Edwin Betances and Ian Wirtz.

Anthony Gonzalez started on the mound for the Mountain Hawks, tossing 2.0 scoreless innings. Jack Ingino, Ralph Gariano, Golier, Cole Kochanowicz and Val Taddei also pitched for Lehigh.
