Baltimore - Brendan Mundorf '07, one of the top players in UMBC men's lacrosse history, will be inducted into the Professional Lacrosse Hall of Fame this weekend during Alumni Weekend, Aug. 3-4, at Homewood Field in Baltimore. Mundorf will be joined by Josh Sims, Kyle Sweeney and Lee Zink
Mundorf is the Premier Lacrosse Laeagu's eighth all-time leader in points (453) and finished his 10-year career with 316 goals (4th all-time) and 136 assists (16th all-time). His 316 1-point goals are currently second all-time. Mundorf was a seven-time all-star, four-time All-Pro, and the 2012 MLL Most Valuable Player.
An Ellicott City, Maryland native who starred at Mount Saint Joseph High School, Mundorf was the 21st pick in the 2006 draft by the Denver Outlaws.
During Mundorf's Hall of Fame career at UMBC, he was a four-year starter and earned America East Player of the Year in his junior and senior seasons. The powerful lefty led the Retrievers to back-to-back America East regular season titles in his junior and senior seasons. In his final season, he helped the Retrievers go undefeated and earn a berth in the NCAA Tournament. He finished his career with 111 goals and 74 assists and graduated with a degree in sociology.
"Our 2024 Professional Lacrosse Hall of Fame is built on a class of All-Pros, All-Stars, MVP winners, MLL champions, and team captains," said Paul Rabil, co-founder and president of the Premier Lacrosse League. "These players demonstrated a longevity of success that will invariably serve as their legacy. It's an incredible honor to recognize their work and lasting impact on the game."
"This year's Hall of Fame class represents the best in our sport, and they have all left an indelible mark on the game of lacrosse," said Rachael DeCecco, chair of the Professional Lacrosse Hall of Fame Committee and VP of Lacrosse at the PLL. "We look forward to celebrating their accomplishments and induction to the Pro Lacrosse Hall of Fame at Homewood Field this summer."
Inductees to the Professional Lacrosse Hall of Fame are nominated by a Hall of Fame committee member and receive a 75-percent majority vote of approval from committee members. Alumni of the Premier Lacrosse League and Major League Lacrosse are eligible for nomination to the Hall of Fame if they played in either or both leagues for at least five years and have been retired from professional lacrosse for three years.
