BOSTON -- After a 5-0 week, the UMBC Baseball team swept the America East weekly awards, the Conference announced on Tuesday morning.
Danny Wyatt was named both the Player and Rookie of the Week, while
Luke Johnson earned the Pitcher of the Week nod.
Wyatt slashed .529/1.059/1.615 in four games, going 9-for-17 with two homers, 10 RBI, eight runs scored and three doubles. The freshman catcher was also 1-for-1 on stolen base attempts, while throwing out the only runner who attempted to steal a base on him.
Johnson was masterful in a complete-game shutout of America East preseason favorite Binghamton. The senior struck out nine, walked one and allowed just two hits. He also retired the final 14 Bearcats to close out the 2-0 win.
