The UMBC Baseball team makes a quick turnaround after a three game series in Texas this past weekend, when it travels up the beltway to face Towson on Tuesday at 3 p.m.

At Lamar, the Retrievers starting pitchers continued to shine, as Luke Johnson, Jayden Shertel and Samuel Downs combined to to allow just seven earned runs in 18 innings pitched while striking out 19.

On Friday, Johnson pitched well, striking out eight, walking one and allowing just three earned runs in 6.2 innings of work.

Shertel pitched an impressive 6.1 IP with four strikeouts and allowing just two earned runs on Saturday, while Downs was once again solid on the mound, he did allow his first two earned runs of the season, but mostly kept the Cardinals offense in check, allowing three runs (two earned), while striking out five in five innings. He left with the game tied at three after the fifth inning.

Last Tuesday, Logan Wiley pitched 5.1 no-hit innings at Navy.

Derek Paris still leads the UMBC offense with an impressive .343 batting average out of the leadoff spot. He went 3-5 with 1 RBI in the Friday night game against Lamar 

Scouting Towson: 

• The Tigers are 3-11 on the season after taking two of three from Yale at home this past weekend.
• Towson's offense is led by Elijah Dickerson who has a .426 batting average
• The Tigers pitching staff is lead by Max Simpson who has a 5.82 ERA in 17 IP
