Lewisburg, Pa. -- The men's 400 free relay team broke a ten year old school record as the UMBC Swimming & Diving teams wrapped up a successful weekend at the Bucknell Invitational on Sunday.
The team of
Boris Milev,
Sean Neils,
Christian Coleman and
Bode Neale took the gold in 2:56.43 to break the old record of 2:56.57 set in 2014.
On the Women's side,
Ember Stennett made the finals in the extremely competitive 30-person field in the 3 meter dive.
"[The Women] took several big steps forward as a program this weekend," said head coach
Matt Donovan. "Everyone got better in some way and as a program we are much closer to our season goals. We're looking forward to the next few months to see how we cross the finish line as a team. [For the Men] this was our best invitational meet from start to finish that we have had since America East 2023. We're looking forward to getting healthy and fine tuning the team over the next few months, and get back to where we know we can be".
Makaela Hill improved her prelim time to take sixth in the 100 free in a time of 51.13, while
Bruna de Padua took 10th overall in the 1650 with a time of 17.20.51.
In the Men's 200 fly, Gassmann took third, narrowly missing second, in a time of 1:47.97. In the 1650,
Nick Zaharescu finished eighth with a time of 15:59.97.
The Men finished second overall (out of six) with a score of 1,289.50, while the women tallied 567.50 in an ultra competitive field.
The Retrievers return to the pool on Saturday, December 7 when they host a split meet. The diving team will face Towson and Loyola Maryland at 8:30 a.m., followed by the Swimming team hosting Frostburg State and Mount St. Mary's at 1 p.m.
