JACKSONVILLE, Fla. – The UMBC track and field program kicked off its three-day stint in northwestern Florida on a strong note as
Gabriel Koletsi was among the top-20 best finishers in the javelin throw at NCAA East Regionals.
Koletsi, who won the silver at the America East Championships and was ranked 23rd in the region coming into the day, wound up in 19th place by launching the javelin a distance of 66.64 meters, landing ahead of fellow America East competitor James Kotowski from UMass Lowell (66.34m) as well as student-athletes from Penn State, Duke, Virginia, LSU, and North Carolina among others.
The top 12 finishers advanced to the NCAA Championships in Austin, Texas.
Sophomore Caitlyn Bobb is the next Retriever on the docket, competing in the women's 400m scheduled to take place at 7:25 p.m. on Thursday night.
