Baseball Hosts America East Rival UAlbany on Senior Weekend

Retrievers Aiming to Lockdown Second Seed In Upcoming AE Championships

- UMBC enters the final conference weekend in second place in the America East standings.
- Junior RHP Luke Johnson is tied for the league-lead in wins (6) and is second in ERA (3.06) and strikeouts (73).
- Senior RHP Connor Kelly has recorded a conference-high seven saves.
- Senior catcher Tony Krueger is 7th in the AE in batting (.347) while junior designated hitter Luke Trythall is 11th (.329). Senior center fielder Justin Taylor also ranks among the Top 20 with a .327 clip.
- Freshman first baseman Leewood Molessa is second on the circuit with 59 RBI and is third in homers (14). Molessa needs just 5 RBI to break UMBC's all-time single-season record of 63 set by Shawn Shugars in 1992. He also needs three homers to equal the Retrievers' single-season home run mark.
- Graduate student right fielder Ian Diaz is 6th in the league with a .454 on base percentage while Taylor is 14th (.424). Diaz is lso third in runs scored (49) and Taylor is 7th (40).
- Graduate student left fielder Christian Easley is 4th in the conference in stolen bases (23) and is 9th with 12 doubles.
 
About UAlbany
- The Great Danes are in last place in the America East with a record of 2-16. Their lone wins have come against UMass Lowell and Binghamton.
- UAlbany is second to last in the league with a .248 team batting average and are last with an 8.16 team ERA.
- Outfielder Dan Tauken is 14th on the circuit with a .311 batting average while outfielder Jason Bottari is 18th (.303). Bottari is also fifth with 23 stolen bases.
- Infielder Will Feil is 7th in the AE with a .447 on base average, 11th in OPS (.958), tied for 12th in home runs (7) and is 15th in RBI (33).
- LHP Cregg Schermer is 9th in the conference in strikeouts (53).
 
Series History
- UMBC swept all three road games at UAlbany back in March. Molessa enjoyed a monster game in game two as he blasted three homers and drove in five runs.
- UAlbany leads the all-time series by a 38-27 margin.
- Last season, the Great Danes took 2-of-3 from the Retrievers in Baltimore.
