Men’s 4x400 Relay Quartet Claims Gold At Dalton Ebanks Invite

Freshman Iosif Papa won the discus with a throw of 51.07 meters.

FAIRFAX, Va. - The UMBC men's track and field program won six medals including two first-place finishes inside George Mason Stadium over the weekend.

The 4x400m relay quartet of Marquis Miller, Michael Arnold, James Munlyn, Jr. and Nicolas Alphonse came in first for their event, running it in a time of 3:18.60, the best UMBC time of the spring.
Freshman Iosif Papa is now a perfect 3-for-3 in his Retriever tenure, winning the discus in 51.07 meters.
Alphonse claimed second and third for his 14.74 hurdles and personal best /conference best mark of 53.78 in the 400 hurdles.
Ibrahim Khairat grabbed second for the triple jump (14.20m) as well as sixth for the long jump (6.68m).
Toren Burr had a pair of top-five finishes, collecting a bronze in the javelin (59.83m) and a fifth place effort in the hammer throw (53.94m).
Aiden Walker (44.94m in discus) and Marquis Miller (48.95 in 400m) also earned fifth place finishes in their events. Shavar Staats (10.84 in 100m) went for sixth, Michael Arnold (54.61 in 400 hurdles) landed seventh, and Seun Olajide (22.10 in 200m) earned eighth to finish the Retriever scoring.

The Dawgs will held to Bucknell for the Bison Classic on April 14 and 15.
