Baseball Returns Home to Host NJIT

The UMBC Baseball team (11-13, 3-3) returns to America East Conference competition as it hosts the NJIT Highlanders (8-16, 3-3) for a three-game weekend series.

The games will be streamed on AmericaEast.tv.

Retriever Notes

UMBC held a 13-9 lead in the bottom of the ninth when the Towson Tigers rallied back while also scoring a walk-off three-run homer to edge the Retrievers 13-15 on Wednesday.
Luke Trythall (5-6), Ian Diaz (2-4), and freshman Leewood Molessa (2-6) all hit a homerun while leading the Retrievers to a record season high 19 hits.
The Retrievers are third in the America East with a .290 batting average
Molessa leads the America East Conference in home runs (10), slugging percentage (.720), and RBI (38).
Trythall leads the Retrievers, and is fifth in the America East, in batting average (.358), and is second for on base percentage (.523)

A Glance At The Highlanders

NJIT is 8-16 on the season, but are coming off a three-game sweep of conference rival UAlbany to move to 3-3 in America East play.
The Highlanders have a 5.92 ERA which is tied with Bryant for the top spot in the Conference.
Senior C Luke Longo is seventh in the conference with six home runs. He also has a batting average of .256 and 12 RBI
