COLUMBIA, S.C. – The UMBC women's track and field program saw sophomore
Ava Roberts earn two trips to the podium on day two of the Weems Baskin Invitational on the campus of South Carolina.
Day 1:
- Jasmine Holland was the top finisher on Friday, claiming seventh in the long jump with a distance of 5.53 meters.
- Petronilla Onyebadi also competed in the long jump, coming in two spots behind Holland for ninth at 5.36 meters.
- Samantha Kameka was the lone top-ten placer on the track, securing ninth as well in a time of 59.97 seconds.
Day 2:
- Roberts was a star for the Retrievers, going for gold in the discus with a personal-mark distance of 46.48 meters while also snatching silver for her 13.92m shot put throw.
- In her first action in her sophomore year, Caitlyn Bobb finished in the single digits of both of her events, coming in seventh in the 400m (55.97) as well as ninth in the 200m (24.81).
- Holland was the lone Retriever to score on each day, grabbing seventh again, this time in the triple jump (11.45m).
- Marie Abongwa rounded out the point producers with an eighth-place finish during the shot put (12.81m) and Janasia Buckner recorded a PR on the afternoon with a time of 27.13 seconds (200m dash).

The Dawgs will make the quick trip up I-695 North next weekend for the Towson Invitational inside Unitas Stadium.
