Young Breaks 100 Hurdle Record; Evans, Roberts Shine at UCF Black & Gold Challenge

ORLANDO - Enazajah Young set another program record for the Retrievers as they completed their first event of the outdoor season, the UCF Black & Gold Challenge.

Young, a freshman sensation, placed 11th in the 100-meter hurdle prelims, clocking a time of 13.90 seconds to set a new top mark in UMBC women's outdoor history. Young broke a 14-year-old record set by Imani Colbert in 2012 as she ran a time of 14.02.

Following closely behind Young, was Winter Evans, a fellow freshman, who also broke the previous program record, finishing 14th with a time of 14.00 seconds.

Ava Roberts placed second in the discus throw, recording a 49.88-meter toss to place second in the event. Roberts holds the program record with a 50.34m throw. Belinda Darko moved into 10th all-time on the UMBC discus list with a 37.95-meter throw, placing 14th.

The UMBC 4x400 relay placed third on Saturday, clocking a time of 3:41.81 between the quartet of Lily Bandy, Leanne McDonald, Dalyce Schmidt, and Anna Creel

Next up for UMBC is the Dan Stimson Memorial Invitational next weekend in Williamsburg, Va.
