BOSTON - After opening up the outdoor season with a strong weekend at the UCF Black & Gold Challenge, UMBC freshman
Lily Bandy was named America East Rookie of the Week.
Bandy competed in the 200, 4x100, and 4x400 relays, posting strong results in all three events.
The freshman posted the top time in the America East in the 200 so far, crossing the finish line in 24.15 to move into third on UMBC's all-time performance list. As part of the 4x100 and 4x400 relays, Bandy helped the Retrievers post times of 46.91 and 3:41.81 respectively. The 4x400 time ranks 17th in Division I so far, while the 4x100 time is 87th.
The Retrievers compete again on Saturday at the Dan Stimson Memorial Invitational hosted by William & Mary.
