The Retriever baseball team (7-7) travels to Arlington, Va. to take on the George Washington Colonials at Tucker Field at Barcroft Park. The first pitch is set for 3:00 p.m.
UMBC is coming off a doubleheader sweep of Mount St. Mary's on Friday and have won six of their last seven games. The Retrievers came from behind in both games, taking the first game, 7-4, and the nightcap, 17-13.
Sophomore shortstop
Drew Roberts (Matthews, N.C.) drove in six runs in the nightcap, plating two each in the second, third and fourth innings.
Graduate student
Myles Nicholson (Hagerstown, Md.) leads UMBC with a robust .453 batting average. He has base hits in 13 of 14 games this season and has swiped 14 bases in 16 attempts.
Freshman
Jayden Shertel (Mays Landing, N.J.) is hitting .333 and is 2-0 on the mound with a 3.65 earned run average.
A Look At The Colonials
- George Washington started the season 0-6 with three losses to UTRGV and three to South Carolina. The Colonials are winners of five of their last nine games and their overall record now sits at 5-10.
- Junior OF/1B Logan Leax leads the Colonials with a .370 batting average (10/27) while starting only 6 of 12 games played.
- Cade Fergus, a senior from Florida, leads the team in homeruns with three, while Noah Levine, a junior from California, leads the team with 10 RBIs.
A Glance At The Series
- The meeting on Tuesday will be the 57th overall meeting between UMBC and GW with the Colonials leading the series, 36-20. The two teams split a pair of meetings in 2018 and 2019 before the Colonials won the most recent contest, 4-2, in February of 2020.
