- UMBC (1-5) got its first victory of the season on Saturday, eeking out a 5-4 win over St. Joseph's. However, the Hawks responded with a doubleheader sweep of the Retrievers on Sunday.

- Three Retrievers have gotten off to hot starts at the plate. Graduate student second baseman Myles Nicholson (Hagerstown, Md.) lead the way with a .480 batting average. He has a pair of triples and blasted UMBC's first home run of the season versus St. Joseph's on Sunday.

- Freshman hurler Evan Selmer (Beltsville, Md.) gave UMBC a huge boost in the win on Saturday, earning his first collegiate win in his debut. He tossed five innings of one-run baseball. Â

- Georgetown comes into Tuesday's matchup with a 3-3 record, winning their last two in a three game series against Norfolk State.
