UMBC Women's Cross Country Heads Off To Penn State For Regionals

This Friday, UMBC Cross Country travels up to Penn State to compete in the NCAA Mid Atlantic Cross Country Regional Meet. The women's 6k will begin tomorrow morning at 10:30, with the men's 10k beginning at 11:30.

  • This competition will be the first competition since the Retrievers hosted the America East Cross Country Championships two weeks ago.
  • Leading the team on Friday is Grad Student Emmy Beyer who placed 1st for the Retrievers, 12th overall at the America East Championships 5k with a time of 17:49.6. Last year at the Mid-Atlantic Regional meet, Beyer led the Retrievers with a 62nd place finish in a time of 22:08.3 for 6 kilometers.
  • Lily Strelecki finished second for the Retrievers, 34th overall with a time of 18:50.6 for 5 Kilometers at the America East Championships. She will be looking to improve upon her season best 23:06.4, which she ran at the Penn State National Open last month.
  • Margo Henley placed 47th at the Conference meet with a time of 19:07.2 for 5 kilometers, and will be looking to finish strong in the regional meet after placing 141st last year with a time of 23:23.4 for 6 kilometers.
