BALTIMORE – UMBC sophomore striker Taylor Calheira (Towson, Md./Concordia Prep) gave UMBC (1-1-1) its lone lead of the night with a goal late in the first overtime period as the Retrievers defeated La Salle, 3-2, in a UMBC-Navy Classic contest played at Retriever Soccer Park.
La Salle (1-2) led, 1-0, and 2-1, before junior midfielder Ryan Becher (Hummelstown, Pa.) knotted the game at 2-2 in the 82'.
UMBC will face Iona on Sunday, a 2-1 overtime loser at Navy. La Salle will play the Midshipmen in Annapolis.

- La Salle's Dominick Bachstein scored the lone goal of the first half in the 24'
- UMBC sophomore midfielder Jago Lott (Somerset, U.K.) curled in a direct kick from a severe angle inside the far right post in the 59' to knot the score at 1-1
- The Explorers' Justin Brunow also tallied from an nearly impossible angle, finding the far left corner of the net in the 74'
- With time ticking down, the brothers Becher collaborated on the tying goal. Jackson, a senior reserve forward, one-timed a long pass to Ryan, streaking down the center and the younger sibling found the upper right corner from nine yards out in the 82'
- The game went to overtime knotted at 2-2
- With just 1:27 to play in the first extra period, Lott's hooking free kick, was flicked by Ryan Becher to Calheira, who headed it in from close range
