BALTIMORE – In his final game in black-and-gold, standout senior defender Jon Bell (Silver Spring, Md./Richard Montgomery) scored his first career goal and classmate Tre Pulliam (Baltimore, Md./Archbishop Curley) added a pair as UMBC thrashed Stony Brook, 4-1, on Senior Night at chilly Retriever Soccer Park.

The Retrievers finished the season with a mark of 6-9-1 and 1-5-1 in America East play, while SBU fell to 4-11-2, 1-6-0.

Entering play, Bell had eight career assists with most of his time in 55 prior games spent at the left fullback position. He played in a more attacking role versus the Seawolves and broke through in the 16th minute. Freshman midfielder Ryan Becher (Hummelstown, Pa.) played a short square ball to Bell in the midfield circle and the senior outraced his defender deep into the box and beat SBU netminder Yamil Montenegro with a left-footed shot well inside the far right post.

Freshman forward Dadi Ingason (Hafnarfjoduer, Iceland) doubled UMBC's lead in the 27', converted a nice passing sequence from Pulliam and sophomore midfielder Alejandro Arbelaez (Baltimore, Md./Archbishop Curley).

Pulliam scored twice in a span of 2:08 midway through the second half. He banged home a straight-on, 20-yard shot after Montenegro and Ingason collided at the edge of the box in the 68'. Then, he picked up an Ingason through ball and beat the Seawolf goalkeeper from 10 yards out to seal UMBC's scoring for the evening.

SBU's Jack Valderrabano spoiled UMBC's shutout bid with a goal in the 86'.

With the two goals, Pulliam wrested the team's goal-scoring lead away from Becher and he finished the campaign with five goals. The local product completed his UMBC tenure with 13 goals.

Retriever junior goalkeeper Eddie Huebner (Montgomery Village, Md./Watkins Mill) made his first start and earned the win in a two-save effort.

UMBC outshot SBU, 20-9 and Montenegro countered with three saves for the visitors.

The men's soccer program honored Bell and Pulliam in pre-game ceremonies, along with forward Jordan Dove (Gambrills, Md./DeMatha), midfielder Nick Gumbs (Damascus, Md./Damascus), fullback Trey Vinson (Heath, Texas), and midfielder Colin Weyant (Perry Hall, Md./Perry Hall).
