BOSTON - UMBC forward
Flynn Holdem was named the America East Rookie of the Week after scoring a goal in a 3-2 victory over Loyola (Md.) last night.
Holdem, a freshman from New Zealand, entered the contest in the second half and made great use of his time on the pitch, scoring the second goal of the night for the Retrievers to push them ahead 2-1 in the 56th minute.
Alberto Galicia played a corner into the box, it pinged into open space where Holdem ripped it with his right foot off a Loyola defender and into the back of the net. Holdem finished the match with three shots in his UMBC debut.
Holdem and the Retrievers return to action on Friday evening at Retriever Soccer Park as they host Presbyterian at 7 p.m.
