UMBC Hosts George Washington On Tuesday Afternoon

Baltimore, Md.—UMBC baseball welcomes the Colonials to Alumni Field on Tuesday afternoon for a 4 p.m. start, moved up from 6 p.m. when it originally slated to start. The Retrievers have won their last two games, and four of their last five with a two-game sweep of Fairleigh Dickinson this past weekend.

Scouting the Retrievers:

- The Retrievers have won their last two games, and four of their last five with a two-game sweep of Fairleigh Dickinson this past weekend by scores of 2-1 and 14-1. Christian Torres (Miami, Fla.) led the way going 5-6 from the plate in two games with six RBI to move to 9-15 on the year.

-Freshmen Joey Goodwin (Rockville, Md./Good Counsel) and Andres Machado (Coral Gables, Fla.) are hitting over .300 at .381 and .313 respectively. Junior AJ Wright (Cherry Hill, N.J.) leads the team with 16 RBI and eight doubles with Collin Stack (Jamestown, N.Y.) blasting three home runs.

-Mitchell Wilson (Hagerstown, Md./St. James) leads the rotation with a 3.71 ERA in six starts going 2-1. Stephen Schoch (Laurel, Md./Appalachian State) leads the pitching staff with a 1.82 ERA in 29.2 innings with 44 strikeouts and six saves.

Scouting the Colonials:

-George Washington enters the midweek matchup at 19-12, 5-1 in A10 play having won their last five contests including a weekend sweep of North Carolina Central last weekend.

-The Colonials have five batters hitting over .300 led by Mark Osis at .358. Osis leads the team with 36 RBI and ten doubles. He his slugging .600 with seven stolen bases. Isaiah Pasteur provides the power with nine home runs and 29 RBI.

-Elliott Raimo leads the rotation with a 2.01 ERA in seven starts and a team best 44.2 innings pitched. He leads the staff with 43 strikeouts, walking just six batters.

All-Time Series:

-UMBC and GW will be meeting for the 53rd time in the all-time series with the Colonials holding a 34-18 advantage, including a 5-2 victory earlier in the year in Arlington. UMBC has lost the last four meetings, with the last win coming in 2016 in a 10-8 extra inning win.

On Deck: 

-The Retrievers return to America East play when they travel to UMass Lowell on Saturday and Sunday. Saturday will be a double header with a single game on Sunday, both days starting at noon.
