Lowell, Mass.— UMBC baseball fell in both games of the double header against the River Hawks on Saturday by scores of 9-2 and 8-0. Christian Torres (Miami, Fla.) paced the Retriever offense with a pair of hits and two RBI on the afternoon.

UMBC falls to 10-18, 4-5 AE while the River Hawks move to 15-17, 6-6 AE on the year.

Game One:

Both starters were on their game early, not letting either side get much going at the start. The Retrievers would get on the board first, putting up a pair in the third. Zack Bright (Fairfax Station, Va.) reached on a single and stole second just pitches later. After Joey Goodwin (Rockville, Md./Good Counsel) walked, Christian Torres continued his torrid April with a two-RBI double down the left field line to put UMBC ahead 2-0.

The River Hawks, however would answer with a pair in the bottom of the inning, putting up another seven runs between the sixth and eighth. UMBC would threaten in almost every single inning, but they would not cash in stranding 14 runners on base throughout the game.

Bright, Torres, AJ Wright (Cherry Hill, N.J.), and Raven Beeman (Somerset, Pa.) all recorded hits with three of the four going for extra base hits.

Game Two:

The River Hawks continued their hot hitting, putting up five runs on five hits in the opening frame to take an early lead.

UMBC would muster just five hits throughout the game as UML added runs in the third and fourth, taking game two by an 8-0 score. Torres, Goodwin, Dalton Stewart (Sharpsburg, Md./Boonsboro), Beeman and Zack DeThomasis (Rensselaer, N.Y.) recorded hits in the contest.

The Retrievers will be back in action with a pair of midweek contests against Georgetown (Tuesday, April 17) and Coppin State (Wednesday, April 18) at Alumni Field.
