Towson, Md.— UMBC baseball dropped their second in a row, 4-2 to Towson on Wednesday. The Retrievers got a big solo home run from freshman Kyle Benjamin (Mechanicsville, Md./Bishop McNamara), the first of his career in the fifth to tie the game. However the Tigers would score three straight to take the game 4-2. 

UMBC falls to 18-21 while Towson improves to 19-29. 

The Tigers get on the board first with a solo home run by Billy Lennox to lead off the second inning.

However the Retrievers found their bats in the fifth. Kyle Benjamin (Mechanicsville, Md./Bishop McNamara) belted his first career home run with one out to tie the game. Andrew Casali (New Cannan, Conn./New Canaan) followed up with his second double of the game and would be moved over on a Raven Beeman (Somerset, Pa./Somerset) single. Jamie Switalski (Gibsonia, Pa./Pine-Richland) grounded out that allowed Casali to score, giving UMBC a 2-1 lead. 

Towson would answer back in their half of the fifth, getting a pair of runs to retake the lead, 3-2. They would add another in the seventh to increase their lead to 4-2. 

Tiger reliever Bo Plagge would hold the Retrievers at bay for the rest of the game, as Towson went on to take down UMBC 4-2 on Wednesday. 

Benjamin went 1-3 on the day with a solo home run as Casali went 2-5 with a pair of doubles.

The Retrievers will return home to take on Coppin State on Thursday, May 11 at 4 p.m. at Alumni Field.
