Baltimore, Md.—UMBC baseball fell 7-3 on Saturday in the season finale to Hartford. The Retrievers end the regular season at 32-18, 14-10 AE and will head to the America East Tournament as the two seed. UMBC ends the regular season with a 20-3 record at home, their best in program history.

UMBC (32-18, 14-10 AE) struck first, getting a run in the first inning. Vince Corbi (Medford, N.J./Shawnee) got on after a hit by pitch, and was followed by an Anthony Gatto (Hauppauge, N.Y./Smithtown West) single put runners on first and second. Hunter Dolshun (Warwick, N.Y./Warwick Valley) followed suit, ripping a single to left field to score Corbi, making it 1-0.

Hartford would respond the next half inning, getting three runs in the second to take a 3-1 lead. The Hawks would add to their lead, getting another two runs in the third, taking a 5-1 lead into the fourth.

The Retrievers would threaten in the fourth, but fail to score after a ground out ends the inning, keeping the Hartford lead at 5-1.

UMBC would threaten again, loading the bases in the seventh, but a ground out by Dolshun would end the threat to keep the Hartford lead at 7-1.

UMBC would get on the board in the ninth with a two RBI double scoring Kevin Lachance (Clifton, Va./Centreville) and Mitchell Carroll (Oakton, Va./Oakton), but Hartford held on 7-3 in the season finale. Hunter Dolshun led the attack going 2-4 with a double and a single with one RBI.

Next up for the Retrievers will be the America East Tournament next week. UMBC will be the two seed and take on three seed Maine on Thursday, May 21 at LeLacheur Park in Lowell, Mass.
