Retrievers Fall, 6-0, in Series Finale Against Stony Brook

Stony Brook, N.Y.—The UMBC baseball team fell 6-0 on Sunday, as Stony Brook completed the sweep of the Retrievers. UMBC falls to 14-13, 4-5 AE on the year.

The Seawolves jumped on the Retrievers early, scoring a run in four straight innings to take a 4-0 lead early in the contest. Eight of the nine Stony Brook batters recorded hits, as they put up 11 hits as a team.

UMBC was held to just four hits on the day, with Kevin Lachance (Clifton, Va./Centreville) recording two of those hits. Lachance had two singles on the day, and also stole a base on the afternoon.

Stony Brook would seal the game with a two-run eighth inning to take the win, 6-0 and complete the sweep. Seawolves starter Ryley MacEachern went 6.2 innings, giving up three hits with four strikeouts.

Retriever rookie Matt Chanin (Olney, Md./Sherwood) went just 3.2 innings, giving up three earned runs and six hits, as he took his first loss of the season.

UMBC returns home for a mid-week contest against Mount St. Mary's on Wednesday, April 15. First pitch with the Mountaineers is slated for 6:00 p.m. from Alumni Field.
