Box Score Baltimore, Md.—UMBC baseball completed a nine run come from behind victory on Saturday against Binghamton. Anthony Gatto hit the walk off home run in the 13th to move the Retrievers to 8-9, 2-2 AE on the year.
Binghamton got things started by blasting a home run to left in the second to make it 3-0 early. The Bearcats add to the lead in the third with a double down the left field line. They followed that up with a double to left to make it 5-0 in the second.
Hunter Dolshun hit a double down the left field line to plate Nick Naumann to cut it to 5-1 in the third inning.
Binhamton added to their lead with a three run home run to left center by Brendan Skidmore in the fourth inning.
Vince Corbi hit a sac fly makes it 9-3, after Kevin Lachance scored on double by Jamie Switalski. Dolshun laced a single to plate a pair of Retrievers to cut the deficit to 9-5 after four.
The very next inning, Jake Barnes would single to center to plate Lachance. Naumann would make it a two run game with a single to make it 9-7 in the fifth. Barnes would continue the comeback in the ninth, blasting a home run over the left field wall to make 9-8. Andrew Casali would tie the contest with a double to left, making it eight unanswered runs to bring the Retrievers all the way back.
Neither team could get the winner in the first two extra innings. The Retrievers had three golden chances, including a shot by Naumann to left field, but was caught at the wall.
Anthony Gatto would provide the winner in the thirteenth with a walk-off home run, giving UMBC a 10-9 win.
The Retrievers and Bearcats are back at it tomorrow at 1:00 p.m. at Alumni Field.
