BETHLEHEM, Pa.—Senior Keri
Wilson (Columbia, Md./Long Reach) and
sophomore Brandan McGee (Hiram, Ohio/Crestwood) led
the UMBC cross country teams at the 38th annual Paul Short Run
Friday morning. The Retriever women finished 23rd (of 44 teams)
with a score of 619, while the men finished 40th (of 45) with a
score of 1,085.
Wilson led the Retriever women across the line, placing 27th
overall in 22:53, while freshman Mary Katherine
Kulp (Vestal, N.Y.) again followed Wilson with a
time of 24:06. FreshmanJulie
Gessler (Ellicott City, Md./Institute of Notre
Dame) and sophomores Cody
Mezebish (Westminster, Md./South Carroll)
and Kristen McGovern (Sykesville,
Md./Century) rounded out the scoring five.
The top five Retriever men were separated by a total of just 21
seconds, led by McGee, who placed 197th in a time of 26:17, while
senior Sam
Boimov (Montgomery Village,
Md./Gaithersburg/Salisbury) followed in 26:24. Sophomore Nic Escobar (Derwood,
Md./Magruder), junior TJ
Cowing (Severna Park, Md./Severna Park) and
freshman Eric Schuler (Columbia, Md.)
rounded out the scoring five.
The Retrievers return to action at the Princeton Invitational on
Oct. 15.
