VESTAL, N.Y.--The UMBC baseball team (7-32, 0-15 America East)
dropped a doubleheader at Binghamton Saturday, falling 7-5 and 9-0
to the Bearcats.
Senior Rich Conlon (Vienna, Va./James Madison) had
three doubles and junior Max Himmelstein (Moorestown,
N.J./Moorestown) drove in three runs in the first game, but the
Retrievers gave up five runs in the second innings and fell
7-5.
Sophomore starter Mike Mitchell (Fairfax, Va./Paul VI
Catholic/Frederick CC) pitched a complete game, but fell to 1-9 on
the season.
The Retrievers had the tying run on base in the ninth, but Zach
Juliano induced the final out for his fourth save, perserving James
Giulietti's (4-4) win.
In the second game, Bearcat starter Mike Augliera (6-3) threw a
two-hitter, leading Binghamton to a 9-0 win. Junior
starter Luke DiBlasi (Pleasant Valley, N.Y./Arlington)
fell to 1-3 on the season, going four innings with five runs
allowed.
The two teams conclude their three-game series Sunday at 1
p.m.
