Baseball Drops Doubleheader at Binghamton Saturday

VESTAL, N.Y.--The UMBC baseball team (7-32, 0-15 America East) dropped a doubleheader at Binghamton Saturday, falling 7-5 and 9-0 to the Bearcats.

Senior Rich Conlon (Vienna, Va./James Madison) had three doubles and junior Max Himmelstein (Moorestown, N.J./Moorestown) drove in three runs in the first game, but the Retrievers gave up five runs in the second innings and fell 7-5.

Sophomore starter Mike Mitchell (Fairfax, Va./Paul VI Catholic/Frederick CC) pitched a complete game, but fell to 1-9 on the season.

The Retrievers had the tying run on base in the ninth, but Zach Juliano induced the final out for his fourth save, perserving James Giulietti's (4-4) win.

In the second game, Bearcat starter Mike Augliera (6-3) threw a two-hitter, leading Binghamton to a 9-0 win. Junior starter Luke DiBlasi (Pleasant Valley, N.Y./Arlington) fell to 1-3 on the season, going four innings with five runs allowed.

The two teams conclude their three-game series Sunday at 1 p.m.
