WINTER HAVEN, Fla.—The UMBC baseball team had just six hits as Dartmouth defeated the Retrievers, 17-2, Thursday afternoon in Central Florida. With the loss, the Retrievers fall to 3-11, while the Big Green improved to 7-4.
Dartmouth's Dustin Selzer hit a three-run home run for the second consecutive day, while the Big Green poured on nine runs in the bottom of the eighth.
UMBC sophomore starter Mike Mitchell (Fairfax, Va./Paul VI Catholic/Frederick CC) (0-2) went five innings, allowing three runs.
Dartmouth starter Kyle Hendricks (2-1) struck out 11 in eight innings of work to earn the win.
The two teams conclude their four-game series Friday at noon.
