Baseball Drops 13-4 Decision to Dartmouth Monday Afternoon

 

WINTER HAVEN, Fla.—The UMBC baseball team fell to Dartmouth, 13-4, Monday afternoon after allowing 11 runs in the first inning. With the loss the Retrievers fall to 3-9 on the season, while the Big Green improved to 5-4. 
 

After the big first inning by Dartmouth, UMBC sophomore reliever Sam Bashioum (Fayette City, Pa./Belle Vernon Area) only allowed hit the next three frames. Freshman starterShane Vlasic (Ashburn, Va./Broad Run) took the loss to fall to 0-2.

 

Dartmouth starter Louis Concato pitched five innings, allowing no earned runs to impove to 1-0 on the season.

 

Junior Brian Klukowicz (Clifton, N.J./St. Peter's Prep) hit a two-run triple, scoring seniorRich Conlon (Vienna, Va./James Madison) and freshman Kevin Kean (Millersville, Md./Old Run), in the top of the fifth to cut the Big Green deficit to 11-3.

 

The two teams are off Tuesday, but are back at Chain of Lakes Park Wednesday at 1 p.m.
