Women's Cross Country Places Eighth in America East Championships

Albany, N.Y.- The UMBC women's cross country team finished eighth in the America East Cross Country Championships held in chilly conditions at the University at Albany. 

Stony Brook tallied 40 points in the women's race, placing four runners in the top-10 en route to the title. Boston U. and New Hampshire both left Albany as runners-up, tying with 56 points apiece. Vermont (84 points) notched a fourth-place finish, followed by Albany (98 points) in fifth and Binghamton (189 points) in sixth. Maine (214 points), UMBC (233 points) and Hartford (234 points) finished out the women's field. 

Senior Keri Wilson (Columbia, Md./Long Reach) was the first Retrievers to complete the 5K course, placing 39th overall (37th position) in a time of 18:40.87. Sophomore Cody Mezebish(Westminster, Md./South Carroll) was the second Retriever to finish, placing 53rd (44thposition) at 19:18.51, while freshman Alyse Gibson (Columbia, Md./Resevoir) was four positions behind Mezebish in a time of 19:22.81.
