BOSTON—The UMBC women's soccer team (0-13-2, 0-5-1 AE) suffered its second straight shutout Sunday afternoon, 8-0, at the hands of four-time defending America East champion and 20th-ranked Boston University (14-2-1, 7-0-0 AE) at the Terriers' Nickerson Field.

BU midfielder Megan McGoldrick scored twice, while forward Tiya Gallegos tallied four points on a goal and two assists to lead the hosts.

The Terriers scored four goals in each half and outshot the Retrievers, 31-4, including 21-2 in the first period. BU forward Madison Clemens got the scoring started in the 14th minute, and Kylie Strom (20'), Jessica Luscinski (35') and McGoldrick (42') each added tallies to give Boston U. a 4-0 lead at halftime.

Gallegos opened the second-half scoring at the 50:32 mark, and 10 minutes later, her shot deflected off a Retriever defender for an own goal. McGoldrick (72') and Alejandra Diaz (76') added insurance markers in the second period.

Sophomore goalie Lauren Kadet (Oakville, Ontario/St. Thomas Aquinas) stopped eight shots in the first half, while senior Mo Van Vlerah (Germantown, Md./Northwest) made one save in the final 45 minutes between the pipes. Kelly King and Andrea Green combined for two saves for the Terriers.

The Retrievers return to action on Thursday, when they host America East rival New Hampshire at 4 p.m. Prior to the game, UMBC will honor its five seniors in a Senior Day ceremony.
