Biography

2011: Made four appearances between the pipes, including starts against Temple and Towson… Tied for sixth all-time at UMBC in saves (161)… Accumulated a season-best seven stops versus Towson… Registered 14 saves on the year… Named to the America East Honor Roll.

2010: Recorded a 1.00 goals-against average and a .750 save percentage on the season… Played all 90 minutes in the season opener, allowing one goal and making three saves in the Retrievers’ 4-1 victory over Delaware State, her only action in net on the year… Also saw action in the field at Hartford.

  

2009: Started all 17 games in goal for the Retrievers, playing all but 76 of the team’s minutes… Allowed 48 goals in 1477:30 of playing time for a 2.92 GAA and a .694 save percentage… Recorded 109 saves, the fourth-highest single-season total in school history… Ranked third in the America East in saves and saves per game (6.41)… Tied for the league lead with 49 saves and 6.12 saves per game in conference contests… Stopped a career-high 14 shots at George Mason… Recorded her first career shutout against Hartford… Also stopped 10 shots against George Washington and Binghamton and had nine saves against Albany… Was recognized on the America East Honor Roll.

 

2008: Saw action in seven games and made six starts… Allowed 17 goals in 554:23 of playing time for a 2.76 GAA… Recorded 35 saves for a .673 save percentage… Tallied a season-high eight saves against Richmond… Also stopped seven shots at Elon.

 

Background: Earned All-State and First-Team All-County honors as a senior and Second-Team All-County accolades as a sophomore and junior… Named team MVP as a freshman and senior… Averaged 4.5 saves per game in high school… Led her Bethesda Blast club team to four straight State Cup titles and two regional finals… Also lettered in basketball for one year at Northwest… An honor roll student… Chose UMBC over Towson and Robert Morris because of the location and campus… Daughter of Lynda Van Vlerah… Has a younger brother, Max, and a younger sister, Hanna… Born Sept. 13, 1990… Majoring in media and communication studies.
