PRINCETON N.J. - Senior Keri
Wilson (Columbia, Md./Long Reach) picked up her first
top-20 finish in an invitational meet this season and
junior TJ Cowing (Severna Park, Md./Severna Park)
was the top finisher for the UMBC men's cross country team Saturday
morning at the Princeton Invitational. The Retriever women finished
in 10th place (out of 11 teams) with 220 points while the men also
finished in 10th (of 14 teams) with 303 points.
Placing 18th, Wilson ran the 6k course in 23:28 just off from
her season best finish which came at the Paul Short Invite.
Freshman Alyse
Gibson was the second fastest Retriever on the day placing
44th in a season-best time of 24:35. Kirsten
McGovern (Sykesville, Md./Century), Julie
Gessler (Ellicott City, Md./Institute of Notre Dame),
and Cody
Mezebish (Westminster, Md./South Carroll) rounded out the
top five for UMBC.
The top three men for UMBC all finished within 30 seconds of
each other with Cowing leading the way, followed by
sophomore Brandan McGee (Hiram, Ohio/Crestwood) and Sam
Boimov (Montogomery Village, Md./Gaithersburg/Salisbury)
finishing in 25:43 and 26:08 respectively.
The Retrievers now have two weeks off from competition before
heading up to Albany, N.Y. for the America East Championships on
Saturday, Oct. 29.
