Baseball Falls to Binghamton, 19-2

BALTIMORE - The UMBC baseball team dropped the final game of a three-game series with Binghamton, 19-2, Sunday afternoon at the Baseball Factory Field. With the loss, the Retrievers drop to 9-35 (4-16 America East), while the Bearcats improve to 27-18 (18-3 AEC).

In the fourth inning, junior Marty Zawacki (Hebron, Md./James Bennett) doubled to right-center field to score sophomore Michael Pesci (Parsippany, N.J./DePaul Catholic) and junior Bryan Russo (Westbury, N.Y./Clarke) followed with a RBI single for UMBC's two runs.

Corey Taylor hit two home runs and drove in four to lead Binghamton.

Pesci (1-4) took the loss for the Retrievers. Jay Lynch (5-4) allowed two runs in five innings to earn the win for the Bearcats.

The Retrievers return to action for their final series of the season Friday and Saturday when they play host to Maine.
