Box Score 2 BALTIMORE - The UMBC baseball team dropped both games of a doubleheader against America East foe Binghamton, 18-1 and 7-0, Saturday afternoon at Baseball Factory Field.
In the second game, senior starter Kevin Clark (Alexandria, Va./Hayfield/Catonsville C.C.) (0-7) had a solid outing with seven innings pitched, while allowing just three runs and adding three strikeouts.
C.J. Lukaszewski led the Bearcats with two hits and three runs driven in.
Binghamton starter Mike Augliera (4-2) struck out nine, allowing just two hits in eight innings of work. Matt Simone pitched the ninth to finish the game.
In the first game, Binghamton scored in every inning except the first on its way to an 18-1 win. Dave Ciocchi hit a home run and drove in three runs to lead the Bearcats.
Sophomore Max Himmelstein (Moorestown, N.J./Moorestown) hit a RBI single that scored fellow sophomore Brian Klukowicz (Clifton, N.J./St. Peter's Prep) in the third inning for the Retrievers' lone run.
Senior starter Ed Bach (Columbia, Md./Atholton) (4-8) took the loss, while Binghamton's James Giulietti (8-2) pitched a complete game and struck out four.
The two teams will conclude their three-game series Sunday at 1 p.m. Before the game, there will be a special senior ceremony to honor UMBC's four seniors, Bach, Clark, Andrew Germuth (Severn, Md./Archbishop Spalding/Mount St. Mary's) and Scott Wildesen (Oakland, Md./Southern Garrett).
