George Mason Sinks Baseball, 19-2, Wednesday Afternoon

FAIRFAX, Va. - Sophomore Curtis Schickner (East Windsor, N.J./Lawrenceville Prep) tallied a team-high four hits, but the UMBC baseball team (4-13) was defeated by George Mason (13-8), 19-2, Wednesday afternoon in Fairfax,Va.

Freshman Aaron Brill (Palm Beach, Fla./John I. Leonard) hit his first collegiate home run in the fourth run and also scored in the second after Schickner singled through the right side in the second inning.

Dan Schafferman led the Patriots, going 6-6 with five runs scored and three runs batted in.

Sophomore starter Michael Pesci (Parsippany, N.J./DePaul Catholic) (1-1) allowed five runs in two innings pitched. George Mason starter Ryan Pfaeffle (2-3) struck out eight in six innings, allowing two runs.

The Retrievers return to action Friday when they travel to Farmville, Va. to play a doubleheader at Longwood at 1 p.m.
