Staten Island, NY--The women's basketball team saw its three-game winning streak halted as the Retrievers fell at Wagner, 62-44. UMBC, which shot 28% from the floor in the game, is now 11-13 overall, 8-7 in the NEC.
The Retrievers trailed just 24-20 with three minutes left in the first half, but Wagner scored the final five points of the frame to lead, 29-20 at intermission. The hosts continued that run into the second half, building a 48-34 lead with 8:25 to play and the cold-shooting Retrievers could not mount a threat thereafter.
Senior guards Jessie Brown and Shalayna Johnson and sophomore guard Christine Catalanotto led UMBC with 12 points apiece.
