Virginia Beach, Va. -- The UMBC Men's Track & Field Program started 2026 off by winning four events and having numerous other strong performances on Friday at the VCU Rams Indoor Invitational.
Jacob Martin,
Aidan Lundberg and
Justin Banks won individual gold, and the 4x400 relay team of Martin,
Kemarley Hibbert,
Alim Raji and
Joseph Addo took first in 3:19.13.
In the 4x400 the Retrievers also took second as the team ofÂ

Karell Clement,
Justin Febles andÂ
Fred-Morgan Iheanacho finished in 3:19.55. Martin won the 500 in 1:03.15, while Lundberg took first in the mile in 4:18.77, with
Weston Carr (4:19.51) and Kieran White (4:21.01) finished third and fourth.
UMBC dominated the 3000, taking the top four spots, with Banks (8:27.48) finishing ahead of
Sofiane Compaorg (8:30.13),
Thomas Foulkes (8:30.43) and
Grayson Ruffner (8:30.60).
Ojigwe Olua had the second-best 60 hurdle performance in UMBC history, as he took silver in 7.91.
In the field,
Toren Burr used a throw of 16.88 to earn bronze in the weight throw.Â
The Retrievers travel to the Nittany Lion Challenge at Penn State next Saturday.Â
