Lynchburg, Va. --
Weston Carr broke a four year old meet record in the 1000m as the UMBC Track & Field concluded the Darius Dixon Memorial Invitational on Saturday at Liberty.
Carr took gold in an America East top time of 2:24.46 with
Joey Ensor finishing right behind him in 2:24.95, both were PR's.
Lyna Beraich won silver in the Women's 1000m in 24.70 and teammate
Lilly Norcross finished fourth in 2:55.94.
Winter Evans won gold in the High Jump (open) with a PR of 1.64m, and
Janine Amefia had a PR of 11.86m in a fifth place finish in the Triple Jump.
Ava Roberts (14.18m) and
Marie Abongwa (14.11m)Â finished sixth and seventh in the Shot Put.Â
In the 60m hurdles, freshman
Enazajah Young finished second in 8.40, while classmate
Lily Bandy won silver in the 200m in a PR time of 24.67. Bandy's result is the number two in the event in the America East behind an earlier performance teammate
Anna Creel, who took fourth in 24.78.
Justin Febles (1:04.36)Â and
Rhema Nkwocha (1:04.56) each set PR's in the 500m as they took third and fourth. In the Mile,Â
Michael Heinemann had a PR in 4:16.72 in an eighth place finish, while in the Women's Mile,
Micah Haskins finished fifth in a PR of 5:08.77.
The Retrievers will compete in the America East Championships in Boston next weekend.
