  • The UMBC women's soccer team secured a hard-fought 1-1 tie against the American Eagles on Sunday afternoon at Reeves Field. Senior Misa Kasparcova scored her second career goal to give the Retrievers a 1-0 lead in the 37th minute. Senior midfielder Delainey Varela-Keen provided the assist with a well-placed pass into the right corner for Kasparcova. Kasparcova then launched a long shot towards the top center of the goal. Eagles' goalkeeper Tamera Taylor-Moore leaped to deflect the shot but inadvertently directed the ball just inches over the line, resulting in a goal.
  • UMBC also came up with a 1-1 draw against the Towson Tigers last Thursday evening at Tiger Stadium.
  • UMBC started strong with junior forward Payton Schenning, who finished with six shots and created several opportunities to give her team the lead.
  • The Retrievers struck first just 8 minutes and 8 seconds into the match when Schenning converted on her third chance of the contest. Junior defender Reagan Casper initiated the play with a long through ball from UMBC's defensive end, which rolled to Schenning at the top of the Tigers' box. Schenning used her strength to fend off a defender and sent a low shot that evaded Towson goalie Teagan Gardner, who recorded four saves. This goal marked Schenning's second of the season.
  • The Tigers managed to equalize with just over four minutes left in the first half.
  • UMBC is currently third in the America East with a .562 winning percentage.
  • The Retrievers are tied for the league-lead in fewest goals allowed (5).
  • Kalli Williams was named the America East Conference Defensive Player of the Week for the second time this season. She leads the circuit and is currently 11th in the country in saves percentage (.938). She also leads the conference in goals against average (.444).
  • Junior midfielder Payton Schenning is fifth in the league in points per game (1.00). She's also second in the league in total shots (2.83 pg.).
