BALTIMORE – UMBC Head Men's Soccer Coach Anthony Adams has announced three team captains for the 2024 campaign. Rising junior Lasse Kelp, senior Jago Lott, and graduate student Hans Nesheim have all been selected by their peers.
"All three of these gentlemen are great representatives of UMBC Soccer," Adams stated. "They are all high character, hardworking, selfless people that will do a tremendous job leading the Retrievers this fall."
Kelp, a defender, who scored crucial game-winning goals against America East rivals UAlbany and Vermont last season, has been a key player for the Retrievers. Following the season, he earned America East First Team accolades and was selected to the All-Northeast Region Third Team. In addition, the Bonn, Germany product was selected as a Third Team Academic All-American. Kelp has made 34 starts for the Retrievers over his first two seasons.
Midfielder Jago Lott made 16 starts in 2023 and distributed three assists, two of which came in the season-opening win at George Mason. The Somerset, United Kingdom native has started 55 of the 56 games he's appeared in and has totaled three goals and 12 assists. Lott was named to the 2021 America East Fall Honor Roll.
Hans Nesheim, who has started all 62 games that he's participated in, is a key player on the defensive end of the field. The Haugesund, Norway native was an America East Second Team pick in 2022 and was also selected to the United Soccer Coaches Northeast Conference Third Team. He also earned College Sports Communicators Academic All-District honors in 2022 and was selected to the America East All-Academic Team.
