Men's Lacrosse Readies for Road TIlt at UMass Lowell

RETRIEVER RECAP
  • UMBC junior attackman Brian Tregoning scored a career-high seven goals, however, the UAlbany Great Danes notched the game-winner with five ticks left to pull out a 14-13 America East victory over the Retrievers on Saturday afternoon at UMBC Stadium.
  • Tregoning scored eight points for the second straight week and scored three of his seven markers in the fourth quarter to pace the offense. Senior linemate Mike Doughty (six ground balls) tallied a pair of goals and distributed a game-high five assists to match his career-high. Senior midfielder Zach Dudley won 17-of-30 face-offs and recorded ten ground balls. Senior Jayson Tingue made nine saves in goal.

DAWG BITES
  • Doughty has produced multiple-assist games in six of UMBC's first seven outings and is ranked 3rd nationally and first in the AE with 3.43 assists per game. He's averaging in his Retriever career. Doughty hit the 100-point mark (39-61-100) and became UMBC's first player to reach 50 helpers since Max Maxwell (66 career assists) achieved the mark in 2016. Doughty is currently second in the league with 4.14 points per game.
  • Tregoning leads the America East with 4.29 points and 3.29 goals per game. He's coming off back-to-back eight-point efforts at Merrimack and UAlbany. Tregoning is seventh in the nation in goals per game.
  • Senior face-off specialist Zach Dudley, who is fifth in the league with a .538 face-off percentage, became the sixth Retriever to reach the 300-win plateau earlier this season and has compiled 358 career draws. He's also fifth on the circuit with 6.57 ground balls per game and is 19th in the country.
  • Tingue is second in the AE in goals against average (11.39), and his 10.07 career goals against average rank fourth among all-active NCAA goalies.
  • UMBC is ninth in the NCAA with a .905 clearing percentage and is 10th with a .455 Man-Up clip.

A LOOK AT THE RIVER HAWKS
  • UMass Lowell has lost 21 games in a row since the 2023 season. 
  • The River Hawks have been outscored by a combined total of 117-52 this season.
  • Garrett Murphy leads the squad with nine goals.
  • Khairi Sears has a team-high 12 points (3 goals, team-best nine assists)
  • Jack Bird is 89-for-168 on face-offs and leads the River Hawks with 48 ground balls.
  • Mark Pav has made six starts in goal and owns a 14.80 goals-against average.

SERIES NOTES
  • UMBC holds a 6-2 advantage in the series and has won three straight contests.
  • The Retrievers are 2-1 in Lowell.
  • The Dawgs cruised to a 15-8 triumph last season in Baltimore. Dane Hall and Jordan Galloway each recorded hat-tricks, while Doughty distributed four assists.
