Luke Johnson pitched another gem, but host UMass Lowell was able to keep the UMBC offense off the board in a 2-0 decision on Friday afternoon.
Johnson went 6.2 innings, allowing just two runs on four hits. UMBC had five hits, but couldn't breakthrough.
The Retrievers best chance came in the seventh down 1-0.
Anthony Swenda hit a leadoff double, but was thrown out at the plate trying to score from second on a
Luke Trythall single.

Kyle Eddington also had hits for UMBC.
Game two of the series will be at 1 p.m. on Saturday.
