Men's Hoops Set to Battle UMass Lowell at The Peake on Thursday Night

SETTING THE STAGE

  • UMBC is 5-6 at home this season.

A GLANCE AT THE RIVER HAWKS

  • UML dropped an 89-73 decision at New Hampshire on Saturday evening.  Guard Quinton Mincey scored a career-high 25 points.
  • Guard Ayinde Hakim is 7th in the AE in scoring (15.2 ppg.) and is 2nd with 5.5 assists per game.
  • The River Hawks were picked to finish second this season after reaching the AE finals in 22-23.
  • UML leads the league in scoring (80.0 ppg.), free throw percentage (.736), and combined team rebounds (40.1 rpg.).

BROWN/EMMOU HONORED BY AMERICA EAST

  • Brown, who has now won #AEHoops Player of the Week honors twice this season, averaged a robust 30.0 points, 12.5 rebounds and 3.0 assists while shooting 60 percent from the floor (24-of-30) in two games last week. The Great Barrington, Mass. native scored a career-high 31 points and tied his career-best with 13 boards at Bryant on Thursday and followed that up with 29 points and 12 caroms in the victory at UAlbany. Brown is currently third on the circuit with 18.3 points per game and is sixth with 7.1 rebounds per game. He's been even better in conference play, netting 21.8 ppg. and a league-best 9.8 rebounds per night. The Vermont Academy graduate is just 63 points shy of breaking UMBC's all-time single-season sophomore record of 482 points, set by Jairus Lyles in 2015-16. He's also eighth in the country with 170 total field goals and 44th with 420 points.
  • Emmou took home his first #AEHoops Rookie of the Week award this past Monday after averaging 17.0 points on 10-of-15 shooting last week. Emmou exploded for a career-high 24 points in 27 minutes off the bench against UAlbany. The Mansfield, Texas product went 6-of-7 from the floor, drilled both of his 3's and went 10-for-12 from the foul line against the Great Danes. The Mansfield Summit graduate added 10 points on 4-of-8 shooting against Bryant. Emmou is averaging 8.3 points per game while shooting 60 percent (18-of-30) in seven conference appearances. He's also a sizzling 69 percent (9-for-13) from long-distance and has knocked down 13-of-16 (81 percent) free throw attempts.

  • Brown is shooting 55 percent (55-100) over his last six contests. His 21.8 ppg. in AE games ranks 3rd
  • Brown needs 63 points to break the Retriever's all-time single-season scoring mark ( 482 points) by a sophomore. (Jairus Lyles, 2015-16). Lyles also holds the program's single-season mark with 665 points during the 2017-18 NCAA Tournament campaign.
  • Banks Jr. ranks 2nd in the AE with 2.6 3-pt field goals per game and is second in 3-pt accuracy (36.8). He's averaging 19.5 ppg. in conference contests, which ranks fifth in the league. He's also averaging a league-best 3.5 treys per game in AE contests.
  • Lorca-Lloyd ranks 9th in conference games with 7.4 rebounds per game and is fifth in blocks per game (1.8).
  • FR guard Franck Emmou has shot the ball extremely well in his first season in Baltimore. Emmou, who scored a career-high 24 points at UAlbany this past Saturday, is 22-for-42 (.524) from 3-point territory and 33-for-37 (.892( from the foul line this season. He's 48-for-95 (.505 percent) from the field overall.
