- Drexel's Witt Crawford scored with 36 seconds remaining in double overtime to give the visiting Dragons an 11-10 victory over UMBC in the opener for both teams before 1,021 fans at UMBC Stadium on February 16. Â
- UMBC senior attackman Mike Doughty tied his career high with four assists, while a trio of Retrievers scored a pair of goals. Senior attackman Mateo Brown, junior midfielder Jordan Galloway and freshman midfielder Corey Myers each tallied twice and Brown added an assist.
- Senior face-off specialist Zach Dudley won 13-of-24 face offs and moved into sixth place on UMBC's all-time leaderboard with 269 draws won.
- The overtime game was UMBC's first since 2021, when they competed in three extra-time contests.

- Mike Doughty averages more than one assist per game (41/33) in his Retriever career. He just hit the 75-point mark (34-41-75) after his four-point effort vs. Drexel.
- The setback to Drexel was UMBC's first opening contest loss since 2020. Â
- UMBC has two sets of brothers on the 2024 team – Kevin and Mike Doughty and Dane and Noah Hall. The Halls become the 36th brother combination to compete for UMBC.
- Head Coach Ryan Moran enters his eighth season at the helm of the Retrievers. He earned America East Conference Coach of the Year honors in 2021 after leading the squad to a share of the regular season title. He has led the Retrievers to the league playoffs in five of the seven full years of competition. As the No. 4 seed, Moran piloted the 2019 team to an America East title and a NCAA Tournament win over Marist. Â Moran is 44-42 overall and 22-17 in America East play.
- The UMBC men's lacrosse program has selected seniors Mike Doughty, Kyle Hoff and Brian Tregoning as its team captains for the 2024 spring campaign. Hoff and Tregoning will reprise their captain's roles from a season ago, while Doughty makes his debut as one of the team's leaders.
- For the first time, a package of UMBC Lacrosse home games (4 of 5) will be broadcast on the ESPN (ESPN+) platforms. The package starts on Friday, March 8 when UMBC hosts Richmond.

A LOOK AT THE MOUNTAINEERS

- The Mount fell to 0-3 after falling, 11-7, to NJIT on Sunday.
- The Mountaineers trailed, 6-5, after three quarters, but were outscored, 5-2, in the final 15 minutes.
- Freshman attackman Brody Atkinson led the way with three goals, while sophomore goalkeeper Owen Peters made 18 saves. Â
- Mount St. Mary's lost earlier decisions at Navy (19-6) and versus Towson (15-5).

- This will be the 29th meeting between UMBC and Mount St. Mary's and the Retrievers have captured 26 of the first 28 encounters.
- The Mount has won two of the past three three match-ups in Emmitsburg, prevailing 16-7, in 2018 and 9-8 in 2022. Â
- A year ago, Mateo Brown scored five goals, leading the Retrievers to a 16-6 victory at UMBC Stadium.
