McKye Nets Another Goal In Women's Soccer's Season-Finale Loss at NJIT; Binko Delivers 6th Assist

McKye Finishes Career With Three Goals In Final Two Matches

Box Score Newark, NJ – Graduate student forward Meghan McKye scored her third goal in two games, but the visiting UMBC women's soccer squad fell, 2-1, in their season-finale against the NJIT Highlanders on Thursday evening.

The hosts took a 1-0 lead in the 33rd minute after Caroline Caputo put in a feed from Ciara Adams past UMBC starting keeper Abbey Cowles for her third tally of the season.

The Retrievers found the equalizer in the 64th minute on a corner kick. Senior forward Izzy Binko delivered a drive from the left side into the box and McKye was able to head in her fifth tally of the season. It was Binko's career-high sixth helper of the campaign.

NJIT (4-10-3, 1-5-2 AE) recorded the game-winner with just 3:08 remaining as Daniella Vito made a tremendous individual play for an unassisted tally. Vitto beat a couple of UMBC defenders on the left side and fired a shot into the upper right corner past Retrievers' reserve goalie Sara Gavagan.

UMBC senior defender Lauren Reid eclipsed the 6,000-minute mark for her career late in the second half.

The Retrievers, who held an 18-13 advantage in shots and took 5-of-7 corner kicks, finished the season with a 5-12-1 (16-1 AE) record.
