  • UMBC led the Princeton Tigers for most of the evening but eventually fell by a score of 2-1 on Tuesday at Retriever Soccer Park.
  • The Retrievers (5-10-1) took a 1-0 lead in the 25th minute on graduate student forward Natasha Munro's team-leading sixth tally of the season. Senior forward Izzy Binko tracked down an errant pass and delivered a terrific cross from the left corner for her fourth assist of the campaign. Munro controlled the pass at the seven-yard line and directed a low shot inside the far post.
  • UMBC nearly struck again with 6:50 left in the half as sophomore forward Payton Schenning fired a shot from just outside the right side of the box headed for the upper right corner. However, Princeton goalkeeper Cecillia Cerone made an excellent play for her only save of the night.
  • The visitors (10-4-0) controlled most of the play over the final 45 minutes and finally got the equalizer in the 74th minute after several near misses. Ryann Brown headed in a corner kick from Pia Beaulieu for her first marker of the season.
  • Princeton scored the game-winner in the 84th minute following a throw-in by Kiley Hammou into the left side of the box. Alexandra Barry received the ball, spun around two UMBC defenders, and sent a cross to the back post for Beaulieu for an easy tap-in.
  • UMBC senior goalie Abbey Cowles played a strong game, making five saves, including a couple of diving stops.
  • The Retrievers must defeat UNH and NJIT to qualify for the AE Tournament.
